Founder’s Tip: Add Coconut Oil to Your Coffee
Coconut oil has so much to offer us beyond applying it to our bodies (the neck down for those of you who are breakout-prone like me). Ingesting coconut oil helps to coax more beautiful skin to the surface as well as providing much-needed nutrition for our brain.
Eating coconut oil allows its medium chain triglycerides (MCT) to help keep your skin healthy and smooth, promote a more even tone and even help to minimize the appearance of the pores.
The microbial action coconut oil offers, due to the capric/caprylic/lauric acid content, is also experienced when taken internally. These fatty acids help to boost immunity. Nearly 50% of the fatty acids in coconut oil are comprised of these infection fighters.
While coconut oil is considered a saturated fat, the MCT is metabolized differently and it is extremely healthy to eat. Meaning, consuming it daily won’t cause heart disease.
Beyond helping your skin to look younger and healthier, eating coconut oil has also been shown to improve brain fog (important for those with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and adrenal fatigue) and cognitive functioning. MCT is being studied for its potential as a therapeutic for Alzheimer’s patients.
My tip for deliciously consuming adequate quantities of coconut oil daily? I put a tablespoon in my black coffee or tea throughout the day in addition to adding it to my morning smoothie. If you haven’t tried this, you’ll be pleasantly surprised how delicious it is.
Perfecting your skin is my passion,
