Whether you are seeing the first signs of aging, or have more mature skin that shows wrinkles, discolorations and a loss of firmness, growth factors should be part of your skincare routine to help your skin look and act younger.
Aging, sun-damaged skin requires growth factors to maintain itself, but as we age our skin makes fewer growth factors. Our latest innovation, Restorative Night Cream, contains a high concentration of biotechnology- sourced platelet-derived growth factors comprised of 540+ skin-important proteins and peptides to help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, brighten dark spots and firm the skin. The growth factors we’ve utilized have a highly advanced built-in auto shut off mechanism that gives your skin the amount needed. It’s the ultimate multi-tasking ingredient, and it perfectly complements our multi-benefit approach for your skin.
Growth factors, which are found naturally in your skin, are the cutting edge of anti-aging science because they promote collagen and elastin at the cellular level. This gives your skin the building blocks it needs to rejuvenate itself, as collagen and elastin are key components in young-looking skin. They can be used by all skin tones and types – even sensitive skin.
In our Restorative Night Cream, we’ve paired these particular growth factors with a specially coated retinol and lactic acid in a micro-delivery system that gently releases these powerful anti-aging ingredients throughout the night while you sleep. As we do not test our products on animals, our volunteers have reported that they’ve experienced the following results when using our Restorative Night Cream daily:
- In 72 hours, fine lines and deeper wrinkles look softened
- In 14 days, dark spots appear brighter
- In 30 days, skin looked and felt firmer
Growth factors can help delay the need for injectables and also prolong their effectiveness if you’re already using them. If you are serious about using effective skin care treatment products, growth factors should be part of your skin care routine.
Our Restorative Night Cream won’t clog pores and can be used by all skin tones and types.
Perfecting your skin is my passion!
Fighting wrinkles and loss of skin firmness is probably the last thing on your mind in your 20s. However, if you take a preventative approach to anti-aging, you’ll be able to look years younger in your 40s and beyond.
It’s true an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When it comes to preventing the look of aging, including wrinkles and sagging skin, taking a few simple steps to building and preserving collagen now will yield remarkable beautiful results as you age. Why focus on collagen? Collagen is a protein that sustains the body’s structure and gives skin its look of firmness. Skin with an abundance of collagen is skin that looks smooth, firm and wrinkle-free.
One of the most important steps to building collagen while you’re young is using high percentages of AHAs such as lactic acid. This should be a cornerstone of your skincare routine because lactic acid and other AHAs boost your skin’s production of collagen. If you’re not using a high-level AHA currently, I suggest our Dramatic Transformation Cream SPF 18 which contains 10% lactic acid at the proper pH level. It also provides sun protection, which is my second tip.
Sun damage destroys collagen, leading to wrinkling, sagging skin, and dark spots. Using sun protection daily seems like a minor thing, but it really does make a difference because sun damage is cumulative. If you crave a subtle warm glow to your skin like I do, sunless tanner is the safest alternative available. Sun damage not only causes premature aging, but it also carries skin cancer risks. With so many sunless tanner options to choose from, you will find one that works with your skin tone to give you the most natural color for you.
You may be sabotaging your collagen and causing wrinkles unknowingly with your sweet tooth. Sugar makes collagen brittle, and when collagen becomes brittle, wrinkles form. I stopped eating sugars – even honey – a year ago and rarely use any sweetener, even stevia, now. It sounds challenging, the difference in how your body feels, beyond the long-term benefits for your skin, is worth it.
Finally, I recommend taking 2000-3000 mg of L-Lysine daily. L-Lysine is an amino acid that supports collagen production, healthy skin and healthy lips.
Incorporate these tips as part of your skincare lifestyle, and you will be thrilled at how young your skin looks 20 years from now.

Breakouts do not respect age. That is an extremely frustrating fact that so many of us over 35 know – myself included.
I turned 46 years old in December, and I still am very careful to avoid comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients. One of the primary reasons I began crafting skincare products and created VERTERE to bring them to you was because of the rampant use of pore-clogging ingredients in products that were designed for breakout-prone skin (yes, you read that correctly) and aging skin.
Breakouts continue to be on the rise well after the teenage years. If this applies to you, there are a couple of ingredients to avoid in the skincare products and color cosmetic products you apply to your face.
Isopropyl myristate and isopropyl palmitate are used as thickening agents and emollients in cosmetic products. For those who have never experienced clogged pores or blemishes, they can use products containing these ingredients without concern. However, for those battling blemishes, avoid these ingredients in products applied to the face.
These ingredients can be used in facial cleansers, moisturizers, eye creams and treatments as well as makeup primers, foundations, concealers and blushes. Taking care to toss products containing these ingredients will help your skin look clearer and reduce blemishes.
I specifically create each VERTERE product to be noncomedogenic so that it will not clog pores while still providing luxurious textures that feel decadent and fight the look of wrinkles, dark spots and imperfections at the same time. As we age, our skin can be temperamental for many reasons which is why paying attention to these ingredient details are important.

HOW TO ADD RETIN A (TRETINOIN) INTO YOUR SKINCARE REGIMEN WITHOUT THE USUAL UNPLEASANT SIDE EFFECTS
Many women and men struggle with the idea of adding tretinoin to their skincare routine because of the unpleasant side effects that can be experienced. Those side effects can include flaking, peeling, redness and irritation that ranges from mild to severe (some affectionately refer to these uncomfortable aspects as the “skin uglies” that accompany tretinoin use). It can be all but impossible to wear any kind of makeup due to the flaking and peeling.
Is it impossible to avoid these negatives so that your skin doesn’t show these tell-tale signs of tretinoin use? Yes, if you follow the simple steps I’ve outlined for you below.
If you’re just beginning with tretinoin, it’s far better to ease into it than risk having tight and flaky skin from using it too aggressively. Human nature compels us to use the highest concentration and apply it nightly – that is a recipe for extreme peeling which is very uncomfortable and no makeup can disguise.
The most important thing to do is to gauge and increase your skin’s tolerance to tretinoin, so I recommend using it two nights a week (a Monday and Friday, for example) for one month to see how your skin reacts. A little flaking can be normal and your VERTERE products will help minimize that.
After that month, increase your usage to three evenings a week for a few weeks with the goal of increasing to nightly use.
Some flaking or scaliness can be normal as your skin adjusts but if you experience severe tightness or sensitivity, stop using the tretinoin until your skin returns to normal and then begin again. Everyone’s skin reacts differently so it’s important to notice how your skin looks and feels.
It’s important to use tretinoin in the evenings only because it’s light-sensitive – and you must apply it to completely dry skin. Don’t layer products containing alpha-hydroxy acids or benzoyl peroxide under or over the tretinoin. If your skin becomes extremely dry from the tretinoin, wait 15 minutes and pat an argan, jojoba or baobab oil over the tretinoin. Applying a noncomedogenic oil over the product is an important tip so that the active ingredient is in direct contact with your skin.
Continue using your VERTERE products, and apply your Dramatic Transformation Cream SPF 18 in the mornings (sunscreen is important when you’re using tretinoin). You’ll be able to avoid those “skin uglies” if you follow this advice!

Glass Skin Without the 10+ Step Hassle
Link to video: https://www.facebook.com/VERTERE/videos/304654220413183/
Glass skin is a beauty obsession. It’s understandable – who doesn’t want glowy, translucent skin? When we asked our Instagram followers if they’re interested in having glowing glass skin without the traditional 10+ step hassle involved, the answer was overwhelmingly yes. You’ll be glad to know you can achieve that gorgeous, luminous look in two easy steps (yes, really!) and can keep it by eliminating radiance-robbing ingredients.
What steps or products in your skincare routine can prevent you from having the glass skin look you want? Anything that’s drying or stripping oils from your skin. If you have combination or oily skin, set aside oil-absorbing toners and cleansers. They can actually cause your skin to become dehydrated, which causes your skin to push more oil to the surface to address the dryness.
Instead, focus on products that infuse moisture into your skin to balance hydration. Moisture balance is key to achieve a glowy, dewy look to your skin without looking like you’re producing too much oil.
Both your cleanser and moisturizers should balance your skin’s moisture, providing deep hydration to satisfy dehydrated, thirsty skin. Even if you have combination or oily skin, your skin still needs some deeper level hydration to prevent surface dehydration which causes your skin to overproduce oil.
Ingredients you’ll want to avoid using over your entire face include tea tree oil. While it is a wonderful ingredient, tea tree oil is very drying and truly best for spot treatment.
Other ingredients to avoid in cleansers and moisturizers include kaolin or other absorbent clays, peppermint oil and menthol. Peppermint and menthol essential oils are irritating to the skin and could trigger redness as well as excessive oiliness as a result.
Glass skin is about moisture and striking that moisture balance so your skin is properly hydrated. Our two-step glass skin approach is simple and takes two minutes or less. First, cleanse with our Refining Treatment Cleanser, which is a lotion to serum cleanser. This unique formula balances and hydrates the skin while clarifying and brightening it. You can see a subtle glow after your first use.
Second, apply our patented Dramatic Transformation Cream SPF 18. That gives a gorgeous radiance to the skin while it hydrates, smooths fine lines and wrinkles, brightens dark spots and purifies.
This is our two-step glass skin secret, and we hope it becomes your skincare secret too.
5 Beauty Sleep Secrets You Must Know for Your Best Skin
Sleep is so important for your skin and body. As an entrepreneur, I cannot tell you how many years I deprived myself of sleep. Lack of quality sleep can negatively impact your health and skin. Getting a great night of restful, restorative sleep involves more than just using a great night cream like our Restorative Night Cream. There’s much more to it that really helps products perform better – and it’s better for you in the long run in many ways.
My first personal beauty sleep secret is to avoid eating or drinking three hours before bed. If your body is focused on digesting food, it’s not going to be focusing its systems on repair which is what it needs to do while you’re sleeping. Cutting off liquids during that three-hour time period helps prevent waking up in the middle of the night. Any kind of disruption of your sleep is going to impact the quality of your sleep and can make you feel sleep-deprived. If you’re over 40, you’re much more sensitive to sleep disruptions of any kind. If you can’t enjoy 6-8 hours of truly restful sleep, it can begin to reflect on your skin.
While we’re in deep sleep, our body releases growth hormone, and that helps to repair and rejuvenate our skin. But if you’re waking up through the night and you’re not hitting that deep sleep cycle, your body never gets to trigger the release of growth hormone. That will cause accelerated aging.
As if the risk of not releasing growth hormone isn’t enough to prompt you to commit to getting adequate sleep, cortisol increases when we’re sleep-deprived. Cortisol triggers inflammation and inflammation triggers aging and breakouts.
My second personal beauty sleep secret is to use a weighted silk eye mask. The silk eye mask that I use has a little zipper pocket at the top so I can put flax seeds in it to provide a little bit of weight and lavender for aromatherapy and to induce relaxation. The weighted aspect not only helps the mask to stay on throughout the night, but it also provides an incredible soothing feeling similar to a weighted blanket. I recommend silk because you want a soft, non-abrasive material against your skin.
My third personal beauty sleep secret is using a humidifier in your bedroom. This makes a tremendous difference if the air in your space is dry. It will really make a difference in how your skin feels when you wake up. I recommended this to one of my friends who also is named Bethany, and she noticed a difference overnight by adding this humidifier into her bedroom. That is a must.
My fourth personal beauty sleep secret is our award-winning Restorative Night Cream. It gives my skin so much bounce, firming and brightening that I can tell a difference if I get a bit lax and skip a night or two of using it. So many people told me what I wanted to create with this night cream couldn’t be done, yet I persevered and created this dream cream. It features platelet-derived growth factors, lactic acid, and other high-performance, clean ingredients and botanicals that truly make a difference in how your skin looks and feels once you wake up in the morning. If you’re doing all these other things combined, it’ll help the cream work even better for you. Any cream, any product that you’re using.
My fifth and final personal beauty secret is to train yourself to sleep on your back. If you typically sleep on your side or stomach, you might think this is impossible but I used to be a side sleeper and I trained myself to sleep on my back. The reason you want to do this is that you do develop wrinkles from the constant pressure of pushing against your skin, night after night when sleeping on your side or stomach. You’ll notice a difference in the plumpness and the firmness in the side you don’t sleep on. Train yourself to sleep on your back. It can be done – it’s worth it.
